Alex Collier | Assistant Coach

Alex Collier will be in his second year wtih the Defiance College men's soccer team in 2017 as an assistant coach.

Collier, a Shelbyville, Ind. native, graduated from Butler (Ind.) University in May of 2015 with degrees in human movement and health sciences education. Collier comes to Defiance after serving as an assistant coach at Millikin (Ill.) University for a year.

While at Millikin, Collier aided in the day-to-day operations of a collegiate soccer program that included helping with practices, creating team schedules and itineraries along with aiding in recruiting efforts.  Prior to joining the Millikin staff, Collier was a coaching education intern with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) during the summer of 2015 where he took part in a number of duties that included serving as a liaison between instructors, host clubs and participants.

Collier's coaching exprience began in 2011 as a volunteer coach for Shelbyville High School's junior varsity soccer team (2011-13).  During his tenure, he assisted the head coach in daily tasks as well as design practice plans and drills for the junior varsity squad.

As a student at Butler, Collier served as a Student Manager of Soccer Operations.

While at Defiance, Collier will be working towards his masters in business administration and will graduate in May of 2018.

Collier has obtained USSF coaching licenses and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

Frankie LaManna | Assistant Coach

Frankie LaManna is entering his first season as a full-time assistant coach for the 2017 season.

LaManna, a Pittsburgh, Pa. native, most recently served as a volunteer assistant coach at California (Pa.) University with their women's soccer program for the previous two seasons.

In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, LaManna has worked as an assistant coach for the PA West Olympic Development Program for the past five years. He has also been a head coach for Pittsburgh's Century United Football Club, as well as the Pittsburgh Football Club and Beading Soccer Club. LaManna has also coached at the high school level in both the Peters Township and Canon McMillan School Districts in Pennsylvania.

LaManna is a 2013 graduate of Robert Morris (Pa.) University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in business administration. He also received his Master's degree in recreation and sports sciences at Ohio University.

LaManna has obtained USSF coaching licenses and a NSCAA Premier Diploma.
